Extra Day

February 29, 2008. I have an extra day- it's a leap year. I start out early and it's a lovely dawn.
Just after 6 am a quarter of the moon is high in the sky. It reflected in the river.
By 6:20 the sky has a slight pink hue

Alas for many! The Dunkin Donuts is still under repair.

Just go next door.
Ridgewood Cafe is still the best Good Morning! in town. Mike and his daughter serve up the coffee and welcoming atmosphere.

Back to school and work Monday

It's so hard to get back into the groove after vacation. The kids will be back to school. It's a cold morning- snow covers Ridgewood.
I see the Ridgewood Walker- the one who walks all year round- she powers by. I also see Mike. It's always nice to see him.

A fine building. Who is the telephone company now?

My bus friends face a challenge. The bus stop is snowed over. They need to climb over a snow bank to get on the bus.

Sunday snow

Admiring the red berries against the blue sky, I was surprised to see my arch enemy perched high in the branches. Now I know the berries are edible.
Julianna and Olivia- Happy birthday daddy!

And what is it all about, the collapse of our Chamber of Commerce?

Behind the facade, behind Ridgewood Ave...

A beautiful barber shop pole in the back of the Maple Ave barber Shop. The barber ran out and scolded me for taking pictures of his front shop window...

The Needlepoint Shop is open on Sunday. A few women were busy inside- stiching

James Rose in the snow

Now, can we still sled here or not? Does the addition of a new house void the sledding agreement? I see tracks, but no kids.

Removal of the bushes opens the beautiful view to the gazebo and river. It's nice that the bushes are gone- they were scary to pass in the dark of the morning.

Snow sculptures

The snow that began on Friday and continued "busily into the night" was the perfect consistency for building snow people.
O Ridgewood, I thee love!

Our emergency vehicles are quick to respond when needed. Thank You!

This snow family is roasting marshmallows over a campfire. I love the cat and the bunny!
